Turf Area Calculator

Outline each grass area on a satellite map of your property, enter your measurements, and we'll total it up and add the recommended 15% overage automatically. Then send your numbers straight to your free quote.

Map your lawn

Use the tools at the top-left of the map: pick Polygon to click points around a grass area, or drop a Rectangle or Circle. Drag the points/edges to fit, then enter that area's measurements below. The map is just to mark and locate your areas — your square footage comes from the measurements you enter.

Prefer to type measurements? Enter dimensions manually

No typed areas yet. Add a rectangle, triangle, or circle here, or draw shapes on the map and enter their measurements.

Tip: the map is just to mark and locate your grass areas — your square footage comes only from the measurements you enter. For an L-shaped yard, split it into two shapes (or enter it as one total). We confirm the exact amount in your quote.

Calculator FAQ

How do I measure my yard on the map?
Search your address to center the satellite map on your home, then pick a shape and outline a grass area — click points for a custom outline, or drop a rectangle or circle. Drag the points to fit your lawn, then enter that area's measurements (length × width, or diameter for a circle) — we calculate the square footage from what you enter, not from the satellite. Add a shape for each separate grass area.
How much sod do I need?
Measure each area of your yard (on the map, or length × width for rectangles), add them together, then add about 15% extra for cuts and odd-shaped sections. Our calculator does this for you automatically.
Why add 15% extra sod?
The extra 15% covers waste from cutting pieces to fit around curves, curbs, and landscape beds — so you don't run short partway through the job.
How many square feet are on a pallet of sod?
It varies by farm and cut, but a standard pallet covers roughly 640 square feet. We'll confirm the exact pallet coverage and count when we send your quote.
